Common man-made chemicals called PFAS are everywhere – and they’re toxic. They’re in our ecosystems, drinking water, and homes. Virtually all of us have PFAS in our bodies.
Right now, New York lawmakers are considering THREE bills aimed at banning these toxic “forever chemicals” in a variety of household and personal care items:
- A.3556/S.5648 will phase out PFAS in everyday items like cookware, dental floss, cleaning products, fabric treatments, rugs, paint, ski wax and household textiles.
- A.6969/S.4265 will ban the sale of personal care and cosmetics products that contain toxic chemicals, including PFAS, formaldehyde, asbestos, and more.
- A.5990/S.3529 will ban PFAS and other toxic chemicals in menstrual products like pads, tampons, liners, sponges, and more.
These are must-pass bills that need to gain enough support this session – otherwise our next chance won’t come for another year!
Urge Senate and Assembly leadership to protect the health of New Yorkers by passing bills banning toxic PFAS chemicals in common household and personal care items before this year’s legislative session ends.
