Join us in telling Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) that the Delta Tunnel is not worth the cost!
The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) recently put out a Benefit-Cost Analysis (BCA) for the Delta Conveyance Project (Delta Tunnel) and will be sharing their findings with Valley Water’s board of directors on Tuesday, June 25. The board is using this BCA to decide whether they will continue to fund the project. Valley Water’s board will vote later this year on whether or not to invest in the remainder of the planning and permitting process for the project, and then in 2026, they will vote on whether or not they will fund the construction of this ecological disaster project.
Join us in educating the board on the inaccuracies of the BCA!
We have found that the report uses inaccurate and exaggerated information related to project lifespan, construction duration, and discount rates. This project will be too expensive for agricultural districts, meaning the bulk of the cost will fall on MWD and a few smaller urban water districts. The cost will be unbearable for ratepayers, as well as property owners and renters, and it will not even produce a new supply of water.
Careful review of the BCA has identified some important points to make. Use our talking points for your comments, but feel free to add your own thoughts as well. Here is the BCA for your own review.
