Weld County Commission is scheduled to take a final vote at an upcoming Commission Meeting on a code change to pave the way for a proposed large‑scale data center to be built by Global AI at the former Kodak facility in unincorporated Weld County. Residents deserve clear information about what a code change and this project would mean for our health, safety, utilities, and tax bills. Weld County residents should not be left paying the price for corporate expansion.
ACCOUNTABILITY FIRST
Data‑center developers must pay their fair share for the infrastructure they require. Existing ratepayers should not see higher utility bills because a private company needs new power lines or grid upgrades. As Colorado works to maintain reliable energy and meet long‑term planning goals, it is also important that new large‑scale electricity users rely on clean and safe energy sources that limit pollution and protect the health of our communities. There must also be tranparency related to water usage, especialy now, as Colorado experiences one of the lowest snowpack levels on record.
SIGN THE PETITION
Sign the petition below to urge the Weld County Commission and local leaders to put residents first when making decisions on data centers that could drive up our utility costs and consume a significant amount of water.
