No Immunity for Big Oil!

As extreme heat, wildfires, and drought intensify, I urge you to OPPOSE any policies that would shield the fossil fuel industry from legal and legislative consequences for its role in the climate crisis. It is unacceptable for oil and gas companies to evade democratic processes that would give communities the opportunity to hold them responsible for their actions. It is unfair and unsustainable for our state’s taxpayers to be solely responsible for the mounting costs of climate disasters that these companies have fueled through their decades of deceit and delay while raking in massive profits. The Trump administration has repeatedly tried to undermine democratic policymaking and deny communities access to justice in service of its Big Oil buddies. Instead of answering for their conduct in a court of law or simply paying their fair share for the costs of climate damages, fossil fuel corporations and trade groups are seeking to shut down avenues for accountability altogether. Climate disasters like wildfires, floods, and heatwaves are growing more extreme, causing loss of life, infrastructure damage, and mounting costs for states and local communities. Please do everything in your power to prevent Big Oil’s call for immunity to be passed, oppose Stop Climate Shakedowns Act of 2026, and protect our right to hold fossil fuel companies accountable.
