Oppose permits for the Brookfield Compressor Station Expansion

I am writing to express my opposition to DEEP’s tentative permits for Application Nos. 202003147 & 202003148 & 202003146 & 202003805 which would expand the Brookfield Compressor Station. I also ask for a public hearing to be held for the public to be heard. Connecticut should not approve any more fossil fuel expansions, which put our greenhouse gas reduction mandates out of reach, and create further air pollution. DEEP should reject these Minor Source permits and instead require a Major Source permit because the facility will have the potential to emit nitrous oxides (NOx) well over the limit for a major source permit. DEEP should reject these permits because more pollution will add to the poor air quality in Fairfield County, which is already failing to meet the 2008 and 2015 National Ambient Air Quality Standards for Ozone. DEEP should reject these permits and instead hold the company to higher standards, and strict enforcement from DEEP. This should include continuous monitoring of all emissions, meaningful enforcement, and timely public notification of all violations, blowdowns and incidents. In closing I urge a public hearing on this matter, and I urge DEEP to reject these permits.
