Safety Harbor, Florida is ready for clean energy!

Clean energy is the cheaper, safer option for our state. We need Safety Harbor to join St. Pete, Largo, Dunedin, Sarasota and Orlando in their commitment to transition to 100% clean energy, which would save taxpayers money on municipal operations, grow our economy, create good local jobs, and clean up our air & water.

Investing in energy efficient city buildings powered by solar would generate a rapid and lasting Return on Investment (ROI) that will free up funds for other types of city improvements.

Safety Harbor strives to be a vibrant destination city with a unique quality of life – a city that is successful in balancing responsible, innovative growth with careful preservation of its small town atmosphere, its quaint character, and its valued treasures; we also need to make it one of the most sustainable! It’s time to plan to make clean, renewable energy available to all residents and businesses in the community.

Throughout our nation’s history, from civil rights to public health and safety initiatives to revitalization efforts, cities have led our nation in moving America towards a more just, safe and equitable society for all people. Local leaders once again must lead our nation towards a healthier, stronger future by committing to 100% renewable energy for all. That’s why 125 communities all across America - big cities and small towns have already come together to establish a goal of 100% renewable energy in their cities, counties, towns, and communities. Mayor Ayoub has signed the Sierra Club’s Mayors For 100% Clean Energy Endorsement and the City of Safety Harbor has recently initiated clean energy activities, like energy efficient LED lighting in city buildings and in city buildings. Transitioning to 100% clean and renewable energy -- like energy efficiency, solar power and pollution-free electric transportation -- will protect our kids and families from pollution, create new jobs and local economic opportunities, protect our coastal town from rising seas, and ensure that all people have access to affordable energy solutions. We can do this. We must do this. As a resident of Safety Harbor, I ask you to set a goal for Safety Harbor to reach 100% clean and renewable energy for the City of Safety Harbor and the entire community no later than 2050, and that planning for this transition be carried out in an inclusive and transparent manner.
