Poe Springs has reportedly stopped flowing, aquifer levels are extremely low, and our region faces an 18.69-inch rainfall deficit. Yet the Suwannee River Water Management District remains under Modified Phase II restrictions while conditions continue to deteriorate.
Phase III would recognize this as an extreme water shortage and allow stronger, enforceable conservation measures across all major water-use sectors. That must include meaningful reductions for agriculture, utilities, commercial and industrial users—and water-bottling operations—not simply restrictions on families watering their yards.
During an extreme shortage, companies should not be allowed to continue pumping and exporting our groundwater without enforceable reductions while our springs, rivers, wells, and communities bear the consequences.
Send the template email today. Tell SRWMD to declare Phase III, restrict major commercial withdrawals, pause harmful new permits, and protect our aquifer before Poe Springs is joined by other springs that no longer flow.
