Help pass SB 34 and prevent skyrocketing power bills!

A massive influx of data centers to Georgia has led to a huge spike in demand for electricity. In order to meet this increased demand, utilities will need to bring a significant amount of new electricity to our grid, leading to increasingly expensive plans to provide this power by expanding our reliance on gas and coal.

A bill in the Georgia Legislature, SB 34, would ensure that these electricity costs caused by data centers are paid by the data centers themselves — not by other Georgia Power bill payers and constituents like you!

In late 2025, Georgia Public Service Commission approved a massive 10 GW expansion of Georgia Power's electric grid, and 80-90% of that electricity is for data centers. This expansion is estimated to cost up to $50 billion, so it's more important than ever that we pass SB 34 and ensure data centers pay these costs.

Our state lawmakers need to stay committed to protecting their constituents and Georgia’s clean energy goals. Take action and reach out to your state senator to tell them to vote YES ON SB 34!

Senator, As one of your constituents, I am writing today to request you vote YES only on Senator Hufstetler's updated language on SB 34 in order to protect all Georgians from unprecedented costs on our power bills as a result of the growing electricity demands from data centers. The data center boom in Georgia has led to increasingly expensive plans to provide this power while nearly doubling capacity, and bill payers need to be protected if the speculated load as a result of data centers does not materialize. The current version of SB 34 will not give bill payers the protection they deserve. Senator Hufstetler's proposed SB 34 language would ensure that all costs caused by data centers are paid by the data centers themselves and not by other Georgia Power bill payers, including fuel costs and overbuild. I appreciate your time and hope that you will send me a response to let me know if you support or oppose Senator Hufstetler's updated language SB 34. In addition, please let me know if there is any information or resources that you and your team need as you consider your support of this critical legislation. Thank you.
