Show support for Moscow’s community solar project!

What is Community Solar?

Community solar is an innovative program that lets community members of all income levels share the benefits–and split the costs–of one big solar array in their neighborhood. Local residents can “subscribe” to the array and receive credits on their power bill for the energy the solar panels produce.

What’s the Status of Moscow's Community Solar Project?

The City of Moscow, Idaho set a goal in 2022 to develop a local community solar project. The City has envisioned putting a community solar array on its new maintenance building and creating a program for local residents to subscribe and get credits on their power bills, including accessible options for low-income residents. The City has already identified funding sources and feels confident that Avista will cooperate to help make this happen. With everything nearly lined up, the City just needs to set aside the time to finalize the details and get it done.

What Can I Do to Help?

If we can demonstrate community-wide support for this affordable and common sense community solar project, we can help the City decide to move this up on its list of priorities and get the ball rolling.

Send a quick message to the Moscow Mayor and City Council to let them know that you support this community solar project and want to see it happen this year!

I was excited to hear that the City is planning a community solar project on one of its buildings, which would provide the opportunity for some local residents to subscribe and lower their power bills. This first-of-its-kind community solar project in the state would generate local clean energy, build climate resilience, help the City meet its stated goals, and create a model for similar projects in the future. I fully support the City working to make this happen as soon as possible, and hope you can make it a priority this year. Thank you.
