A poll of Maryland voters, released in November, showed overwhelming support to move beyond coal and into a clean energy future. In fact, 7 in 10 Maryland voters favor transitioning off dirty coal and providing economic support to coal workers and their communities.
Across the country, more than 300 coal-fired power plants have announced a retirement schedule or have come off the grid. But with six coal plants in Maryland still polluting our air and water, and the climate crisis continuing to escalate -- we need to make sure our state legislators and decision makers know their constituents overwhelmingly support setting a schedule to phase off our coal plants and transitioning to clean energy.
Send a message to your state legislators today sharing the poll results and asking them to prioritize legislative action to responsibly phase the state off its coal plants, and provide transition plans for workers and communities.
