Tell your Senators to support a bill that protects the people and planet

The long-awaited Senate Energy Bill came out on Wednesday, and for the past 48 hours, advocates and legislators have been piecing through this 163 page bill. The good news is that the bill is significantly better than previous versions and does not include the $1 billion cut to Mass Save, our energy efficiency program. The bill also provides some protections against utility profiteering and unchecked gas expansion, but we think it could go further.

Please use this form to email your Senator and request that they support amendments that would:

  • Protect Massachusetts residents from the harms of unrestricted data center development.
  • Prevent gas expansion near environmental justice communities
  • Strengthen existing language on preventing utilities from using our money for advertising
  • Push back on false solutions like Biomass and RNG
  • & many more! Because this is such a massive bill, there are a whole lot of amendments that we and our allies will be advocating for.

Fill out this form to ask your Senator to vote for these amendments next Wednesday, July 1st, and pass the strongest energy bill they can.

To strengthen the bill even further, I urge you to support the following amendments: #26 Halting Gas Expansion #62 Data Centers #37 Prohibition on Charging Ratepayers for Goodwill or Institutional Advertising #25 Addressing Biomass #77 End Gas Line Extension Subsidies #1 Protect Constituents From Unreasonable Utility Profits #106 Self-attestation of Income #73 Ending the Clean Energy Standard Existing #78 Labor Peace For Thermal Energy Networks #163 Alternative Compliance Payments #35 Incentivizing the Reduced Use of High-Priced Gas Supply Contracts #75 Ending the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard In addition to supporting the amendments above, I urge you to oppose the following amendments: #139 Preserving Gas System Enhancement Plan Statutory Authority #114 Relative to energy rebate checks #97 Protecting Existing Infrastructure and Jobs #20 50% alternative compliance payments I understand that this is an extensive list, so thank you for your time in going through these issues. As you know, this bill has a lot of very technical provisions in it and the timeline to read and understand the bill has been very fast. Thank you for your consideration.
