The Montana Public Service Commission is supposed to regulate NorthWestern Energy, Montana's largest utility company, in the public interest to make sure the company isn't overcharging customers and making bad investments.
Unfortunately, NorthWestern Energy recently announced a series of new fossil fuel investments. Montanans now pay the highest energy bills in the region, and NorthWestern is requesting a 20% electric rate hike for Montanans. For years, NorthWestern Energy owned just a small share of the extremely expensive Colstrip coal plant. Now the CEO wants to own the whole thing and keep it running for decades to come and force yet another electric rate increase to make Montanans foot the bill.
Send your message to urge the Public Service Commission to deny NorthWestern Energy's proposed rate increase! (Feel free to edit the message as you see fit or start from scratch!)
