Take action today to tell Congress -- Stop the Yellowstone gold rush!

Just north of Yellowstone National Park, two mining companies, Lucky Minerals and Crevice Mining Group, want to develop large-scale gold mines. The local community, businesses, conservation groups and people like you have been fighting these awful proposals for years.

Thankfully, Montana Senator Jon Tester has introduced the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, legislation that would permanently ban mining on 30,000 acres of federal land in two areas north of Yellowstone - Emigrant Gulch and Crevice Mountain. Now is our chance to protect this precious region for years to come!

Tell Congress to make the right plan, and approve the bill to keep mines out of Yellowstone!

Keep gold mines out of Yellowstone, vote “YES” on S.941

I support Senate Bill 941, which would permanently withdraw 30,000 acres of public lands in the Emigrant/Crevice area north of Yellowstone National Park from mining. Protecting these public lands from large scale mines will ensure that our rivers, forests, wildlife corridors, and our local economy will be protected for future generations. The Emigrant Gulch and Crevice Mountain areas are renowned for their spectacular mountain vistas, the wild Yellowstone River, and prime wildlife habitat for grizzly bears, wolverines, and other imperiled species. As our native wildlife struggles to survive the ongoing impacts of climate change, it’s more important than ever that we protect the lands and resources they need to survive -- not open them up to mining and other destructive uses.. These critical public lands also fuel the local economy. In 2014, Park County brought in $196 million in non-resident tourism revenues – fishing alone brings this county $70 million per year. The local community asked for a permanent ban on mining in Emigrant Gulch and Crevice Mountain because they believe two industrial gold mines will endanger the natural environment and water resources on which their way of life and businesses thrive. We must promote the best and highest uses of our public lands on the doorsteps to Yellowstone, not build mines and displace wildlife. Thank you for listening to not only my voice, but the many voices of those who want to protect our lands, waters and wildlife from the harmful impacts of industrial mining.
