Tell your legislators: Pass the Clean Energy Jobs bill!

Randy Joseph and his sons run their own small wind farm in eastern Oregon called Lime Wind. Together, they manage and maintain six turbines on the site of a closed cement plant in rural Baker County, Oregon. The turbines provide enough energy annually to power about 600-800 homes!

Oregon is closer than ever to passing the Clean Energy Jobs bill. This bill puts a price on climate pollution, and will reinvest in communities to grow the local, clean energy economy. Major investments will be in places struggling economically -- rural areas, communities of color, and low income areas.

It’s up to you to demand a policy that prioritizes just and equitable solutions to reduce global warming pollution while growing opportunities for Oregon workers and clean businesses.

Throughout the 2017 legislative session, the House and Senate environmental committees held a series of meetings and heard from a variety of experts who made it clear that Oregon is ready for a policy that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and invests in our local economy. We’re feeling the effects of climate change right now, and the Clean Energy Jobs bill is a solution that reduces climate pollution while simultaneously creating thousands of jobs by encouraging investment in cleaner energy sources, greater energy efficiency, and upgrading infrastructure threatened by climate change. Oregonians need the state legislature to enact a Clean Energy Jobs bill that: 1) reduces climate pollution based on science, 2) invests in the communities that need it most, 3) ensures that energy is still affordable, and that workers who are impacted by a clean energy transition are re-trained in the new economy, 4) requires all sectors pay their fair share if they pollute above the cap and that 5) ensures that no communities are left with an unfair burden of pollution or cost Please work with your colleagues to ensure these components are included in the Clean Energy Jobs legislation slated for introduction during the 2018 session. And please vote to pass that legislation and be part of helping Oregon provide real benefits to our community, economy and environment.
