Tell NV Energy it's time to retire Valmy and replace it with solar

The Valmy coal plant in Northern Nevada is an unnecessary blight on our state's landscape and environment. The recent economic analysis NV Energy conducted found the utility can save money by replacing the dirty coal generation with solar generation. Now is the time to close Valmy and replace it with 100% clean, renewable energy. Valmy is Nevada's dirtiest resource, emitting significant amounts of air pollutants, including particulates and toxins like arsenic and benzene, all contributing to smog and regional haze. If NV Energy cares about its customers and their health, and if NV Energy truly wants to be a clean energy leader and move toward 100% renewable, we need to see you take steps to move in that direction. That means retiring Valmy unit 1 in 2019 and unit 2 in 2025.
