Tell Attorney General Josh Shapiro to say NO to dirty energy bailouts!

President Trump's Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary, Rick Perry, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) are again considering bailouts for polluting, expensive coal and nuclear plants.

Those bailouts could mean increased energy costs for you, the consumer. Plus, they're bad for the environment--supporting failing, old industries instead of supporting competitive, clean renewable energy. Pennsylvania Utilities should be investing in the future rather than seeking bailouts for their uneconomic plants.

We need Pennsylvania's officials to stand up for energy consumers.

I am a Pennsylvania electricity customer and I'm asking you, Attorney General Josh Shapiro, to take action to protect me and other Pennsylvania electricity customers from possible anti-consumer actions that would bail out failing coal and nuclear plants. The Trump Administration is mulling more bailouts while PJM -- our regional electric transmission organization -- has proposals at FERC to change how energy markets operate. These changes would increase my electric bill, and the electric bills of all Pennsylvanians to fund bailouts for uneconomic power plants. These efforts are anti-competitive, bad for electric customers, and bad for the environment. They must not be allowed to take place. You are the chief legal officer of Pennsylvania. It is your responsibility to take action and protect Pennsylvanians from these bailout attempts. Please uphold your legal responsibilities and take action.
