Drop all charges against journalist Jenni Monet

Journalist Jenni Monet was unjustly arrested while covering the Standing Rock protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline and charged with trespassing and engaging in a riot. As an award-winning journalist who writes about Indigenous rights, Monet was simply doing her job by reporting on the forcible removal of water defenders. Freedom of the Press is guaranteed under the First Amendment of the Constitution. Monet’s arrest and prosecution violates her constitutional rights and can only be interpreted as an attempt to silence the journalists who covered the Standing Rock protests. I call for the immediate dismissal of all charges against Jenni Monet and any other journalists unlawfully arrested and charged while covering the Standing Rock protests.
