Stop Duke Energy's Unchecked Coal Ash Pollution

Take Action Now!

The communities surrounding Duke Energy's coal plants have had to live with unimaginable water pollution. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) is deciding on a permit that could allow the company to continue polluting until 2023. We need Secretary Michael Regan to continue his environmental leadership and take action against Duke Energy.

Toxic chemicals, including selenium, mercury and arsenic have contaminated wells and waterways that nearby residents rely on for drinking water. In some cases, residents have been forced to use bottled water for cooking and bathing.

Duke Energy must stop its reckless pollution in our most important waterways, including the Catawba River. Secretary Michael Regan should require Duke Energy to eliminate discharges of polluted wastewater into the Catawba to defend North Carolinians that depend on this water.

Tell Secretary Michael Regan that NCDEQ’s permit should force Duke to stop polluting our waterways now.
