Give salmon in the Northwest a fighting chance -- tell your senator to stop HR 3144 today!

Even as steelhead and salmon returns in the Columbia and Snake Rivers are at devastatingly low levels, members of Congress are trying to halt efforts to restore wild salmon in the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, along with Congressman Newhouse and Congresswoman Jamie Herrera Beutler, introduced legislation (H.R. 3144) that passed the House earlier this year that would stop action -- including even the study of possible actions -- to aid endangered salmon in the Snake and Columbia Rivers.

The bill would prevent federal agencies from increasing water "spill" to aid salmon, or from studying removal of four aging, outdated, and expensive dams on the Lower Snake River. At a time when wild salmon and steelhead are returning to native rivers and streams in record-low numbers, we need to work hard to allow restoration - not make it more difficult.

Take action NOW to tell your senators to oppose this dangerous legislation, and protect our salmon!
