In 2009, General Motors executives stood in the Rose Garden of the White House with President Obama and committed to significantly increase their fuel economy and decrease the greenhouse gas emissions of the company's fleet. Almost all the other automakers stood together that day. Since then, you have made great strides in fuel efficiency, but now all that progress could be lost. Since Trump won office, GM has worked to undermine the standards. While you claim to only want more "flexibilities", we know it means more pollution and more expenses for American consumers. Every new report on the state of the climate proclaims the need for drastic action to avoid the worst effects of climate change. Now is the time for General Motors to stick to its original commitments and reject Trump's misguided attempt to rollback the clean car standards.
