Methane pollution standards protect our health and environment

Methane pollution standards keep our air clean and our families healthier. Even many companies in the oil and gas industry are saying these standards are commonsense, low-cost means of reducing dangerous emissions. Nevertheless, Donald Trump and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler are trying to create loopholes to benefit polluting corporations at the expense of our health by recklessly rolling back these protections.

It is critical the EPA keep methane pollution safeguards strong and work to protect communities instead of selling our children and families out to the worst actors in the oil and gas industry. According to the latest research, the U.S. oil and gas industry releases 13 million metric tons of methane from its operations each year—nearly 60 percent more than currently estimated by the EPA, and without strong methane pollution standards, the climate impacts could be enormous. Wheeler needs to refocus the EPA on its core mission of protecting our health and the environment, not attacking critical health and climate protections.

Tell Andrew Wheeler that you won’t stand for his dangerous rollback of methane pollution standards. Don't forget to use the personal message box to say why this matters to you!
