A diverse group of 150 members of Congress have introduced federal legislation that would put the U.S. on a path to 100% clean energy economy-wide by 2050. Just as importantly, it will place environmental justice at the forefront of any clean energy transition, so communities that have felt the worst effects of pollution historically will be the first to benefit from a new clean energy economy.
Community by community, state by state, a nationwide movement is underway and demonstrating that our country is ready for 100% clean energy. Already, over one in four - 28% - Americans live in a city or state that has set a path to 100% clean energy. From Chicago to Atlanta to Portland (both Oregon and Maine!), cities and states are blazing the path to clean energy.
But if we’re going to combat climate change, we need to move to 100% clean energy economy wide across the country. That’s why Congress needs to act.
