Tell Congress: Our COVID-19 response must prioritize public health, workers, the environment, and democracy.

As the enormous scale of the COVID-19 crisis becomes clearer each day, how we respond grows ever more important. Right now, as Congress continues to debate its next actions, we have an important window to shape that response. There's still more to do.

Congress must act swiftly to minimize the loss of life, provide immediate assistance to those in need, and put forward bold policies that will create a stronger democracy and chart a path to a more equitable, clean energy economy on the other side of this crisis.

The Sierra Club demands that any further COVID-19 response and stimulus packages Congress puts together should do the following:

  • Provide health protections and economic relief to those who need it most
  • Reject bailouts of fossil fuel corporations
  • Focus financial assistance on supporting workers
  • Invest in resilient infrastructure projects
  • Throw a lifeline to the estimated 155,000 clean energy workers whose jobs will be lost due to the economic downturn
  • Protect and enhance our democracy with safe and secure elections

Tell your members of Congress: We need a COVID-19 response that prioritizes public health, provides immediate relief for those in need, and puts workers, the environment, and our democracy on a better long-term footing.
