In early 2018, Congress approved $1.6 billion for more southern border wall, giving Donald Trump the green light to waste valuable taxpayer dollars to further his administration’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda and bulldoze unique borderlands ecosystems.
Then Trump shut down the government in December 2018 in an attempt to get $5.7 billion more for his xenophobic, senseless, and destructive walls -- something the majority of Americans reject. When Congress refused to give him all the funding he wanted, he manufactured a crisis in order to declare a national emergency in a dangerous and unconstitutional power grab. We must stop this disastrous cycle from repeating. Border communities deserve better.
The Trump administration's actions have continued to threaten the health and well-being of immigrant families, border communities, and their local environment with its racist, inhumane deportation agenda. We stand strong as one progressive movement against Trump's anti-immigrant, anti-environment agenda.
Funding more wall or militarization would be a disaster – creating environmental destruction at the border, continued family separation, and severely misusing taxpayer funds. We can’t let that happen and we must speak up to our members of Congress.
Join us in standing strong with our partners in the immigrant rights community and our members and allies along the border and across the country in telling Congress we oppose any new money for further militarization -- that means no to more border agents, no to more detention centers, and no to more wall.
