Right now, billions of dollars are flowing into local communities to build new clean energy, fight climate change, protect communities from pollution and grow the green economy.

Our people-powered movement won the largest investment in climate action EVER through the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which puts us on a path to cutting climate pollution 40 percent by 2030, while creating nine million family-sustaining jobs.

But now, these programs are under attack. The fossil fuel industry and Republicans in their pockets are working tirelessly to slash funding for these projects and block our progress towards an equitable clean energy economy for all.

Let’s make sure our representatives in Congress hear from us – tell them to fight for affordable clean energy and green jobs by protecting the Inflation Reduction Act from attacks from the fossil fuel industry and their lackeys in Congress!

In 2022, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) which dedicated hundreds of billions of dollars to state and local programs to support the clean energy economy and fight the climate crisis. IRA programs protect public health, promote clean energy growth and transition, and safeguard our communities against the worst impacts of the climate crisis. These program funds will benefit communities in every state and U.S. territory.

I am deeply concerned about efforts underway in Congress to terminate these programs and take away these critically important dollars from state and local recipients. Any attempts to repeal parts of the IRA will result in real and direct losses to communities across the U.S.

The IRA will galvanize our transition to clean energy by helping to clean up our electricity, transportation and industry. It will make energy use in our homes and buildings cleaner and more energy efficient. And, combined with executive branch and state actions, it could enable the U.S. to achieve its climate goal of reducing carbon pollution 50 percent below 2005 levels by 2050.

I ask that you vote NO on any legislation to repeal or gut these critical IRA programs. Please work with your state and local governments to ensure these funds are put to good use immediately to give us a fighting chance of avoiding the devastating effects of the climate crisis.

This is not right and goes directly against strong public support. According to Yale, after learning about the Inflation Reduction Act, 68% of registered voters support its policies.

I ask that you vote NO on any effort to repeal these critical programs and to focus on supporting our state’s efforts to maximize the funds we are able to receive through the IRA. As your constituent, I know this is in our state’s  best interest.
