Act now to protect our clean energy future!

Over the last few years, the federal government has invested billions of dollars into local communities to build clean energy, create green jobs, make appliances and electric vehicles more affordable, and protect communities from climate impacts and pollution.

But these programs are now under attack. The Trump administration and the fossil fuel industry are working tirelessly to slash this funding, even though the majority of Americans support action on climate. In fact, 85% of the investments and 68% of the jobs are going to Republican-held congressional districts.

Let’s make sure our representatives in Congress hear from us – tell them to fight for affordable clean energy and green jobs by protecting the Inflation Reduction Act from fossil fuel industry attacks!

In 2022, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) which dedicated hundreds of billions of dollars to state and local programs to support the clean energy economy and fight the climate crisis. IRA programs protect public health, promote clean energy growth and transition, and safeguard our communities against the worst impacts of the climate crisis. These program funds will benefit communities in every state and U.S. territory.

I am deeply concerned about efforts underway in Congress to terminate these successful programs and take away critically important dollars from our state and local recipients. Any attempt to repeal parts of the IRA will result in real and direct losses to communities across the U.S, including mine.

The IRA is galvanizing our transition to clean energy by helping to clean up the way we generate our electricity. It’s allowing our transportation and industry to compete globally. It’s making energy use in our homes and buildings cleaner and cheaper. And, combined with other Biden administration  and state actions, it’s enabling the U.S. to achieve its climate goal of reducing carbon pollution 50 percent below 2005 levels by 2050.

I ask that you vote NO on any legislation to repeal or gut these critical IRA programs. Please work with your state and local governments to ensure these funds are put to good use immediately to give us a fighting chance of avoiding the devastating effects of the climate crisis.
