We demand a clean energy future!

The Biden administration invested billions of dollars into local communities to build clean energy, create good-paying green jobs, and make appliances and electric vehicles more affordable. These historic investments aimed to also protect communities from climate impacts and pollution while significantly lowering costs and energy bills for millions of families.

As soon as he took office, Trump and the fossil fuel corporations that helped get him elected got to work slashing this funding, even though the majority of Americans support action on climate.

These cuts are sending us backward. They are hurting our climate and our economy. Let’s make sure our representatives in Congress hear from us – we demand they do better to protect clean energy.

In 2022, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which dedicated hundreds of billions of dollars to state and local programs to support the clean energy economy, fight climate change, and keep energy prices affordable. IRA programs protected public health, promoted clean energy growth and transition, and safeguarded our communities against the worst impacts of the climate crisis. These program funds would have benefitted communities in every state and U.S. territory – in fact, 85% of the investments and 68% of the jobs went to Republican-held congressional districts.

I am deeply concerned that Congress ended these successful programs and took away critically important dollars from our state and local recipients.

The IRA was galvanizing our transition to clean energy by helping to clean up the way we generate our electricity. It was allowing our transportation and industry to compete globally. It was making energy use in our homes and buildings cleaner and cheaper.

I am outraged about Congress' decision to repeal and gut these critical programs, and demand you protect clean energy and climate action.
