Stop the Expansion of Fracked Gas in Connecticut.

There are multiple fracked gas pipeline expansions proposed for Connecticut. Join us in calling on Governor Ned Lamont and DEEP Commission Katie Dykes to oppose these fracked gas projects!

In Brookfield, TC Energy and Berkshire Hathaway want to double the size of a pipeline compressor station that is already polluting the local community and emitting huge amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.
Meanwhile, Enbridge, a massive Canadian fossil fuel corporation, has proposed an expansion to their fracked gas pipeline system that cuts across Connecticut.
The state of Connecticut has also proposed that the Capitol Area System in Hartford will continue to burn fracked gas to heat government buildings, despite the availability of non-fossil fuel alternatives.

I’m deeply concerned about proposals to expand fracked gas in Connecticut.

In Brookfield, there is a proposal to more than double the size of a fracked-gas compressor station that is located just 1900 feet from a middle school. This proposed expansion poses a serious safety risk, and emits dangerous toxins that nearby residents, and the children at the school breathe in every day. The compressor station also emits large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally, Enbridge has announced Project Maple -- a proposal to expand their fracked gas pipeline system throughout Connecticut and the region.

DAS’s plans for the Capitol Area System in Hartford will continue to burn fracked gas to heat government buildings, despite the availability of non-fossil fuel alternatives.

In the era of rapid climate change, Connecticut should be shutting down fossil fuel facilities, not expanding them. I urge you and your administration to take the following actions:

-Reject the air permit for the Brookfield compressor station
-Publicly oppose Enbridge’s Project Maple
-Reverse the decision on the Capitol Area System;  transition to zero-carbon emissions, not more dirty fossil fuels.
