Stop the Trump administration from gutting climate protections

The EPA has one responsibility. It exists to protect people and our planet.

Yet Trump wants to take a sledgehammer to protections for the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the climate that we rely on, all for the benefit of corporate polluters. They're also proposing rolling back all minimum federal standards for greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles.

Without those safeguards, climate change will worsen. Storms, heat waves, and fires will become more frequent and endanger more lives. Deadly air pollution will increase.

If the EPA doesn't protect the environment, anything goes. Big Oil and Gas can pollute with no restrictions, and corporate lobbyists will get what they paid for in electing Trump. This will create complete chaos that is deeply unfair for American families who will suffer, as polluting corporations continue to profit at our expense.

The EPA is supposed to work for us. We are the ones who should be calling the shots.

The Environmental Protection Agency has a responsibility to protect our environment, health, and future. The 2009 endangerment finding is based on overwhelming scientific evidence that carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases endanger our health, communities, and economy by driving global climate change. The finding -- which has been upheld unanimously in federal court -- gives the EPA the statutory authority and obligation to regulate these heat-trapping gases emitted from major sources, such as power plants, motor vehicles, and aircraft. It was adopted following a rigorous rulemaking process considering thousands of public comments and a massive record of scientific research, which has grown far more voluminous in the intervening years. The EPA must follow the science, not the agenda of the corporate polluters who bought access to Trump. If approved, rescinding the endangerment finding would deal a decisive blow to the EPA's authority to limit deadly greenhouse gas emissions and protect our people and our planet from the worst effects of the climate crisis. Nearly every single day, we witness an increase in extreme weather incidents, record-breaking heatwaves, deadly floods, and droughts, all of which threaten our lives and communities -- all of which are the undeniable result of greenhouse gas emissions. The EPA has one responsibility. It exists to protect people and the places we love. Please do your job and protect our environment and future generations.
