Tell Congress to reject attacks on gray wolves

Legislation in Congress could strip wolves of Endangered Species Act protections and open the door to unsustainable trophy hunting and trapping.

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) put forth legislation, H.R. 845, that would eliminate wolves from the endangered species list from coast-to-coast and allow states to implement trophy hunting and trapping seasons. It would even prevent courts from reviewing the action.

There will likely be a vote on Representative Lauren Boebert’s bill to strip gray wolves of Endangered Species Act protections this week! This is an important moment, both for wolf recovery, and also for the Endangered Species Act itself.

Please contact your representative and ask that they oppose Rep. Lauren Boebert’s short sighted efforts to eliminate crucial protections for wolves!

Please oppose H.R. 845, the so-called “Pet and Livestock Protection Act”. This legislation would strip gray wolves of Endangered Species Act protections from coast to coast, leaving them vulnerable to the states to implement unsustainable trophy hunts and trapping seasons. H.R. 845 ignores the letter and spirit of the Endangered Species Act, and casts aside expert guidance from scientists and legal experts who have spoken out urging continued protection for the gray wolf as it continues its path toward full recovery. H.R. 845 dismisses broad public support of wolves and their protection throughout the nation. Gray wolves are a part of our natural heritage and provide ample societal and environmental benefits.We have seen first hand how vital wolves are to ecosystems like Yellowstone National Park, an environment that suffered greatly from the absence of wolves before their reintroduction in 1995 In the midst of an extinction crisis, the U.S. Congress should be strengthening and fully funding the Endangered Species Act and working to protect wildlife, plants, and fish–not seeking to diminish it. Please keep wolves protected under the Endangered Species Act.
