Congress: Hold the Administration Accountable to Protect People, Democracy, and Public Lands

The Department of Homeland Security is escalating militarization on our public lands, which makes these places less safe for all of us. In the spring of 2025, Congress failed to stem the takeover of Big Bend National Park. By Summer 2025, the Department of Homeland Security worked in partnership with the Department of Defense to occupy public lands in Los Angeles and establish detention facilities in Big Cypress National Reserve. Those actions further escalated in unprecedented threats to wilderness in the Borderlands.

On top of this, children are being targeted by immigration agents in places such as parks, outdoor spaces, and on school field trips. This cannot be allowed to continue. We all must be able to safely access educational and outdoor programs and other sanctuary environments where children can learn and grow without fear.

There are moments that require us all to rise up and speak out. This is one of those times. Demand that Congress holds the Department of Homeland Security accountable for protecting our people, public lands, and communities.
