The Mojave Desert is one of the most extraordinary landscapes in the country -- a vast and interconnected ecosystem of Joshua tree forests, rugged mountain ranges, sweeping desert vistas, and irreplaceable wildlife habitat. But, right now, this remarkable landscape is under threat. A proposed fourfold expansion of the Castle Mountain Gold Mine would industrialize this region, putting wildlife, water, and a cultural landscape at risk.
National parks and monuments are not industrial zones -- they safeguard wildlife, water, recreation, and heritage central to our shared identity, and once damaged, these places can suffer irreversible harm. This proposed expansion includes new infrastructure that would fragment habitat and disrupt migration corridors as we know it.
The Bureau of Land Management needs to hear from all of us about how this project will impact our local ecosystems, access to recreation, and more.
Take action today and tell decision-makers to reject the Castle Mountain Mine expansion and protect this extraordinary desert landscape.
