Trump has once again disregarded the will of the American people by attempting to slash nearly three million acres of protections and virtually eliminate Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in southern Utah.
Trump's actions also disregard years of Indigenous and other local advocacy to protect these landscapes. Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante are a part of a larger cultural landscape — an interconnected Indigenous homeland that has been stewarded by Native Americans since time immemorial.
Allowing new drilling, mining, and other industrial development in these treasured places will hurt communities who depend on public lands and waters for their local economies, clean drinking water, culture, history, and quality of life. These monuments belong to all Americans—not to the oil, gas, or mining interests that have long sought to exploit them.
Join us in standing alongside Tribal Nations, local communities, and people across the country to defend Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and all of America's national monuments.
