Sierra Club’s latest Dirty Truth report finds that most of America’s largest utility companies continue investing in expensive coal and gas while delaying cleaner, lower-cost energy solutions that could help reduce energy bills. As electricity demand grows, including from rapidly expanding AI data centers, Congress should ensure that consumers aren’t left paying the price through higher monthly bills and repeated utility rate increases. I urge you to tell the Department of Energy to stop the bailouts, handouts and giveaways to the coal utilities driving up costs on everyday Americans.
