Tell Governor Morrisey: West Virginians deserve to know the full terms of the $1.44 billion coal bailout loan

Last year, Governor Morrisey announced that the US DoE awarded West Virginia utilities $1.44 billion to refurbish six coal-fired power plants, which could keep them running for up to 20 more years. Those loan payments will be passed on to ratepayers through electric bills, regardless of how long the plants actually stay in operation.

The Sierra Club and partners submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to learn more about the proposed deal, but the Governor has refused to produce any records.
