No On HB3175, No On New Nuclear

slightly_different-radioactive-2056863_1920.jpgSpeculative demand for power from data centers is driving the conversation around new nuclear power in Oklahoma. Nuclear power is the most expensive type of power to build and will take years to come to the grid; better options like wind and solar are not only cheaper but also can be on the grid quicker. HB 3175 would establish an Advanced Energy Office in Oklahoma that would move forward with establishing a nuclear program in the state, complete with grant funding to engage in engineering and construction of nuclear facilities. Tell your Senator to vote no on HB3175 and to instead invest in safe, affordable energy that can be brought quickly to the grid.

Speculative demand for power from data centers is driving the conversation around new nuclear power in Oklahoma. Nuclear projects in other states have failed or resulted in skyrocketing utility bills for the ratepayers of the state. I urge you to vote no on HB 3175 and to instead look at how better planning for transmission and permitting for solar and wind can meet the needs of our state and drive down the overall costs for everyday Oklahomans.
