2018 Southeastern Group Election

Please read the following bios and select five out of the seven candidates! After voting, you will be redirected to the Southeastern Group's website.

Candidate 1: Pratima Agrawal

Pratima is a local performing artist, educator, and arts administrator. She led a Lehigh Valley Beyond Oil campaign while living in Bethlehem, PA. She also started a petition to bring regional rail to the area and wrote letters to the editor. The petition received wide support and the campaign is ongoing. She moved to Philadelphia in 2014 and joined the Ready for 100 campaign in January 2017. She has helped garner Mayor’s Kenney’s 100% Clean Energy Pledge, launch the Ready for 100 campaign for the city, and is currently helping to pass resolutions that could ensure commitments from City Council.

Candidate 2: Pat Beaudet

I have been a volunteer for the Sierra Club for almost 20 years. My contributions to SPG have largely focused on organization, events, communications and fundraising. I held the chair position for 8 years and 3 years as vice chair. I have done several tours as newsletter editor. Currently, I serve on the membership committee as Philadelphia County Leader and as Social Chair for the group. My goal is to stay on the Executive Committee as a “senior member” who has broad knowledge of the Club at the national, state and local levels.  

Candidate 3: Ann DiCampello

Ann is a graduate of Misericordia University with a BS in Science. Since receiving Cornell University certificates in 1) Climate Change Science, Communication and Action 2) Urban Environmental Education and 3) Global Environmental Education, Ann has worked on developing environmental educational programs. Aa a member of the Bucks County group, Ann works to inform her community in efforts such as 100% renewables which she used as a platform while running for township council. Ann also advocates for the Delaware River Keeper’s Network, is a member of Bucks Environmental Action and board member of GOAL of Levittown, PA.

Candidate 4: Sue Edwards

Sue lives in Swarthmore. She earned a BA at Oberlin College and an MA from Vermont College.  She has long been an activist for justice and peace but in 2010 determined that climate change is an existential threat, so she started volunteering with Sierra Club.  Her focus has been equity and environmental justice, in both the Beyond Coal and Ready for 100 campaigns. She was a founder of Philly Climate Works, bringing together union, community, and environmental justice leaders.  She is an at-large member of the PA ExCom.  She's politically active for progressive candidates and has been arrested in protests.

Candidate 5: Ken Hemphill

Ken founded two land preservation advocacy groups and works for a third as their communications coordinator. The Beaver Valley Preservation Alliance, Save Marple Greenspace, and Neighbors for Crebilly are working to save large scenic and historically significant tracts of taxpayer-subsidized land in the Delaware Valley. Ken’s articles have frequently appeared in several Pennsylvania newspapers as well as the national journal Truth-out.org. His 2014 film Blank Spot narrated by Peter Coyote won “Best Documentary Short” at the Oregon Film Awards. If you’re looking for Ken, check the trails in Beaver Valley or in Ridley Creek State Park/Tyler Aboretum.

Candidate 6: Dave Moscatello

David K. Moscatello, Ph.D. Sierra Club member since 1984, life member, current Ex-Comm member, lifelong nature lover and environmentalist. I became active in SPG upon retirement and enjoy hiking, camping, canoeing, and cycling. My main interests are wilderness protection and reducing the harms to both the environment and human health associated with fossil fuel use. By implementing clean renewable alternatives to fossil fuels as quickly as feasible, I believe we can rapidly transition to a greener civilization. I have been active in the Beyond Coal Campaign, and my current focus is the Ready for 100% campaign.

Candidate 7: Abbie Wysor

B.S./M.S. Sociology, M.A. Theatre. Previously costumed for area theatres; currently work a for a class- action claims administrator. A 33-year resident of Media, I am active in efforts to preserve Media as a livable, green town, working for local, environmental candidates and green-space initiatives. An avid hiker and backpacker, I am Vice President of Batona Hiking Club, a member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and Batona’s representative to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Partnership Committee of the ATC. A member of Sierra Club since 2009, I have been active with the Delco Chapter since 2017. My focus is on electing environmental candidates and implementing green energy initiatives.
