The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is in the middle of a proposed rule-making process to cut methane and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from existing oil and gas sources.
While this proposed rule will greatly reduce air pollution due to VOCs and methane emissions from oil and gas operations, it contains a major loophole that exempts low-producing wells -- even though they are collectively responsible for more than half of Pennsylvania’s methane emissions.
Pennsylvanians deserve a stronger methane rule that puts our communities and our climate first. Don't let low-producing oil and gas wells continue to receive a "free pass".
Call on Governor Wolf to adopt greater protections from methane pollution and remove this industry loophole once and for all!
