Allow ALL Homeowners to Landscape with Native Plants!

The Problem: Homeowners Associations often have restrictive rules that limit a homeowner’s choice of using native plants in their own front yard. This is especially important since pollinators, birds and other species are in decline, largely from habitat loss.

The Simple Solution: Allow homeowners to enjoy landscaping with native plants. PA House Bill 1878 prevents HOAs from unreasonably restricting the use of native landscaping on private property.

Pennsylvania has over 6,800 HOAs and condos with about 1.3 million residents. House Bill 1878 protects private property rights by prohibiting HOAs from unreasonably restricting the use of native landscaping.

Dear Representative, Homeowners Associations often have restrictive rules that limit a homeowner’s choice of using native plants in their front yard. Native habitat loss is leading to declines in pollinators and songbirds. The iconic monarch has even been proposed as Threatened by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The solution is simple, we need more native plants to support pollinators and songbirds. Pennsylvania has over 6,800 Homeowners Associations and condos with about 1.3 million residents. House Bill 1878 will prohibit Homeowners Associations from unreasonably restricting the use of native landscaping on private property. Please show you care about private property rights and Pennsylvania’s pollinators by supporting HB 1878.
