Ask Albuquerque City Council to extend free public transit!

The City of Albuquerque is set to review the proposed budget for FY 2023. Please contact your City Councilor in the Mayor to support Zero Fares Albuquerque, which offers free fares on Albuquerque public transit and opens doors for more people to use public transit and rely less on their vehicles.

Zero Fares provides more fair and equitable access to low-income families and individuals to get to jobs, school and others daily activities.

In 2021, the Albuquerque City Council approved $3 million to fund zero-fare transit for everyone, eliminating barriers to transit access for all riders until Dec. 31, 2022. The Zero Fares coalition is urging the City Council to fund zero-fare transit through June 2023.

Please fill out the form at right to tell city councilor and Mayor Tim Keller that you support free and accessible public transit for all in Albuquerque! Please add a personal message to give your comment more impact.

I urge you to support continued funding of the Zero Fares pilot project through June 2023 (and beyond!) Zero Fares for public transit is vital for all Albuquerque residents and visitors. Previous Zero Fares initiatives for students, veterans, seniors and now for ALL have made a tremendous impact on the community. Zero Fares expands access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities, as well as eases interactions between riders and bus drivers in our city.  Before the Zero Fares pilot program began in January, fares were the biggest barrier to using public transit for many people. By eliminating fares, the Zero Fares pilot project creates more equitable access to public transportation. The Zero Fares pilot project is currently set to end in December, so the community is counting on your support of Zero Fares through June 2023 as included in the mayor’s budget.    Please support continued funding of the Zero Fares pilot project through June 2023. Albuquerque can and should be a leader in working toward a resilient and equitable transit system. Thank you for your support of this important project.
