After the wolf named Asha twice roamed into Northern New Mexico from the Gila doing what young wolves do to look for a territory of their own, she was captured again and has been in captivity with two male wolves, Arcadia and Horizon (all named by school kids who care about the future of wolves in NM). We have now learned that Asha has mated with Arcadia!
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service needs to hear from you to urge her release, her mate Arcadia and packmate Horizon into the wild. The group should be called the Caldera pack to honor Asha’s travels to the Valles Caldera National Preserve where she spent her most recent free days on her last journey. All members of this wolf family should have the chance to experience freedom together as a family, to learn together about living in the wild, and to further the success of Mexican wolf recovery.
Please send your comment to the agency and tell them to free Asha and the Caldera pack! And for greater impact, add a personal note.
Thank you,
