The University of South Carolina has made recent efforts to support and push for a cleaner energy future. Below, are the four recently passed measures and their main objectives:
-SBL 11162- COMMIT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO ENCOURAGE CLEAN ENERGY USE AND TO IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY
-SBL (112) 39- RECOMMENDATION TO INVEST IN UTILITIES METERING SYSTEMS IN EACH BUILDING ON CAMPUS
-SBL (112) 42- A RECOMMENDATION TO REDUCE CAMPUS ENERGY CONSUMPTION THROUGH ENERGY CONSERVATION AND EFFICIENCY MEASURES
-SBL (112) 43- A RECOMMENDATION TO COMMIT THE UNIVERSITY TO CARBON NEUTRALITY AND A CLEAN ENERGY GOAL
The University of South Carolina is calling for all students to advocate for an equitable clean energy transition. The University’s current infrastructure lacks the necessary materials for net metering, an important factor to measure the necessary changes for an overall positive impact. Net metering changes allows for the university to lower the demand and consumption of nonrenewable energies and transition by investing in renewable energy projects.
We are advocating on the behalf of the university towards utilities and state government the need to transition away from fossil fuel.
