As one of your customers, I am glad that the Public Utility Commission took action to stop disconnecting customers for most of the utilities during the COVID-19 Pandemic, but we hope you offer real bill relief for those most impacted by the pandemic, such as those who are now unemployed or underemployed, and pledge to halt all disconnections and reconnect anyone already disconnected. In addition, closing gas and coal power plants will reduce pollution that is harming people’s lungs and health, making them more susceptible to COVID-19. Clean energy resources in Texas are affordable and available, and now is the time for electric utilities to phase out polluting energy sources. While I recognize the initial investments you have made in energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy, I am disappointed that you have not done enough—demonstrated by your poor score on the Texas Clean Energy Scorecard. You need to do much more. Please transition away from all fossil fuel-based energy and invest more in clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. I want to see tangible progress in developing renewable energy goals, solar in our community, and accessible, affordable 100% renewable energy programs. More and more of my neighbors support clean energy and want better options to save money on our bills right now through programs that provide access to rooftop solar and community solar farms, energy efficiency and demand response, and that encourage people to invest in electric vehicles. Thank you for considering our concerns.
