Corpus Christi leaders are listening - now let’s make sure they follow through.
On July 29, the Corpus Christi City Council voted to delay a major funding decision for the controversial Inner Harbor Desalination Plant. This pause comes after sustained public pressure, serious concerns about cost overruns, and mounting opposition to the environmental harms the project would bring to the Coastal Bend.
But the fight isn't over yet. The City Council will revisit the vote on August 26, 2025, and we need to keep the momentum going.
Tell Corpus Christi leaders: Stop this dangerous and unnecessary desalination project once and for all.
The Inner Harbor plant would dump over 50 million gallons of concentrated brine per day into coastal waters, threatening critical ecosystems, harming aquatic life, and potentially devastating local fishing and tourism industries. Despite the growing water needs in Texas, this project fails to deliver a sustainable or community-informed solution. Nearly $100 million in public funds have already been spent.
We’ve already collected hundreds of signatures and stories from Texans across the state. Add your voice now to show city leaders that people from every corner of Texas - from the Gulf Coast to DFW - are watching.
