Texas is the national leader in renewable energy - these clean, abundant, affordable energy sources like wind and solar are helping keep the lights on during extreme weather, lowering electricity bills, and attracting investment to our state. But right now, a wave of anti-renewable energy bills moving through the state legislature could bring this progress to a shocking halt.
These bills are designed to slow or shut down wind and solar projects in Texas, while raising electricity prices, limiting landowner rights, and even increasing pollution. We need your voice now to stop them.
What’s at stake:
SB 388 (Sen. King)
Would require that half of all new energy be “dispatchable” - while excluding grid-saving battery storage - and propping up gas power projects. It would rig the market and slow clean energy growth.
SB 715 (Sen. Sparks)
Would force solar and wind facilities to buy redundant and unnecessary backup power (hint: climate-polluting gas power) - costing customers more and making the grid less reliable. ERCOT says this could raise electric bills by $15/month.
SB 819 (Sen. Kolkhorst)
A red tape nightmare that adds unfair permitting rules and massive buffer zones - targeting renewables while oil and gas get a free pass.
Texas families are already paying too much for electricity. These bills would:
- Raise your energy bills
- Shift more power back to polluting gas
- Hurt Texas landowners and communities
- Stall our progress toward clean, reliable, affordable energy
Tell your lawmakers: Stop attacking renewables. Vote NO on anti-clean energy bills.
