Join us in the saga to protect the Great Salt Lake.
The Great Salt Lake is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere and an iconic American ecosystem. It provides habitat for millions of migratory birds and supports a variety of industries, including brine shrimping, tourism, recreation, and skiing, which contribute billions of dollars to Utah’s economy.
The Great Salt Lake is also in imminent danger.
Upstream water diversions are depleting the lake’s water levels and threatening environmental and human health throughout the region. As waters recede, sediments in the lakebed containing toxic pollutants are exposed to the wind and carried into thousands of Utahns’ lungs. The lake’s impending ecological collapse threatens public health, biodiversity, industry, and communities across the Salt Lake Valley.
