Over time, we have gained the wisdom to know that simply protecting public land, water, and wildlife is not enough.
Now, more than ever, we need to work hard to ensure that all people can access and share the benefits of public lands. Ensuring everyone can engage with nature helps transform feelings of indifference and wonder into a sense of connectedness and responsibility to protect our shared public land, water, and wildlife.
Throughout our history, the Sierra Club has led outings that bring people together to play and experience the outdoors, inspiring conservation ethics and action. To keep a robust outing program active - we need leaders. If you have a love for the outdoors, have special places or activities you'd like to share with others -becoming an outing leader!! As an outing leader you are the bridge that helps connect the people and places in your community. Once trained, you plan the outing and we will help promote it - let’s work together to get people outside!
Training will include two sections - the first section is ‘Sierra Club Leader Training’, which covers Sierra Club specific policies and guidelines, and the second is ‘Basic First AID/CPR’ - both are required to be certified by the Sierra Club to lead outings. For longer, overnight outings or water based outings, additional training is required.
