Tell Governor Evers: Support Bad River Band, Protect the climate, Stand up to Trump

On October 29, almost a month into a government shutdown, the Trump administration’s Army Corps of Engineers issued a construction permit for Enbridge’s proposed Line 5 reroute project. If built, the reroute could irreparably damage wetlands and waterways in the Bad River watershed and extend the risk of a catastrophic oil spill in the Great Lakes.

Congressional Leaders have been calling out the Trump Administration for prioritizing projects that help the oil industry while SNAP food benefits are about to expire and healthcare premiums will likely skyrocket.

Additionally, it was unlawful for the Trump Administration to grant this permit while state permits are yet to be finalized, due to the ongoing contested case hearing. It’s imperative that you push back on the Trump Administration illegal fast-tracking these permits.

Join us in calling on Governor Evers to call out this illegal permit approval and push back against the fast tracking.

Dear Governor Evers, On October 29, almost a month into a government shutdown, the Trump administration’s Army Corps of Engineers issued a construction permit for Enbridge’s proposed Line 5 reroute project. In their press release, the Army Corps says that “The approval of the Enbridge Line 5 reroute application is a great success and will advance the President’s energy dominance agenda for America,” but the majority of the oil and gas carried by Line 5 is from Canada and sent back to Canada, and studies show that shutting down Line 5 would be good for energy independence in the US and could produce more jobs than the projects Enbridge has proposed. I’m asking you to support the Bad River Band, protect the climate, stand up to the Trump administration, and secure your climate legacy by calling out this illegal permit approval. Please do what you can to stop the Trump administration from fast tracking these permits. Thank you for your time.
