With the passage of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), Illinois has made historic progress in building a thriving and equitable clean energy economy, but we can’t stop there. Illinois communities continue to struggle with the impacts of pollution, extreme weather, and undue consumer burdens.
That’s why we’re asking you to urge your legislators to support the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition Platform:
- The Clean and Reliable Grid Act (SB 3637): Accelerates our path to 100% clean renewable energy
- The Clean and Equitable Transportation Act (SB 3936 / HB 5829): Expands opportunities for walking, biking, public transportation, and the use of electric vehicles. This bill also lives as three sub-bills: the Metropolitan Mobility Act, Transportation Choices Act, and Zero Emissions Vehicles Act.
- The Clean and Healthy Buildings Act (SB 3935 / HB 5835): Expands access to energy efficiency and electric appliances to equitably transition off of fracked gas in buildings
Even with CEJA, Illinois remains the 7th most climate polluting state nationwide. We must urgently accelerate clean power development and address sectors beyond the electric grid, like transportation and buildings. We must continue working to transform our economy to one that is clean, healthy, reliable, and equitable for all.
