Tell PA State Senators: Pennsylvanians Want Community Solar Now!

Community solar is an option in every state surrounding Pennsylvania.

Community solar greatly benefits residents who are interested in the advantages of solar energy but who do not have the option to put solar panels on their homes. The majority of residential households do not have roofs suitable for solar panel installation due to roof conditions or shading. Solar panels may also be out of reach for renters, multi-unit buildings, and low income households.

PA House Bill 504 can fix this problem. This bill would allow for community solar in Pennsylvania to benefit all residents, regardless of home ownership or roof conditions. This policy would provide a solar model for delivering equitable access to the benefits of solar energy.

HB 504 had already passed in the PA House! Now it's to tell your state senator to support this critical clean energy bill!

I urge you to vote YES on House Bill 504. This bill would allow community solar as an option for all consumers in Pennsylvania. Community solar is important to the residents of Pennsylvania. Most households are not able to directly install solar panels. This could be due to ownership status, roof condition, shading, or many other factors. Community solar would allow residents who do not have the option for roof-top solar to participate in and benefit from a community solar program. This is the one option that most effectively helps reach difficult sectors such as multi-family housing and manufactured homes, especially for low- to moderate-income residents. Community solar will also improve grid resilience for all residents. Community solar is also compatible with efforts to restore blighted lands. Heavily disturbed areas such as abandoned mine lands and other previous industrial uses are potential areas for community solar development. Please vote YES on House Bill 504.
