Let’s Pass New Clean Energy Standards for PA

Hb 501 (PRESS) was just voted out of committee!

PRESS is Governor Shapiro’s plan to update Pennsylvania’s outdated clean energy targets. These targets, established in 2004 through the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards (AEPS), have stagnated over time and have placed the Commonwealth at the bottom of the barrel. We rank an embarrassing 49th in the nation for percent growth in total solar, wind, and geothermal generation since 2013.

The Pennsylvania Reliable Energy Sustainability Standard (PRESS) can turn things around. This proposal would require 35% of our energy to come from renewable sources like wind and solar by 2035. This policy would allow Pennsylvania to make up significant ground in the clean energy revolution, while reducing climate-disrupting pollution.

The bill is not perfect and has a long way to go before becoming law, but we cannot wait any longer to jump-start clean energy growth!

STEP ONE: Call Rep. Matthew Bradford and ask him to prioritize bringing PRESS to a vote in the House. You can call because of his leadership position, even if you're not his constituent!

  • Norristown district office - (610) 270-1150
  • Harrisburg office - (717) 772-2572

Suggested Script: "Hi! My name is [NAME] and I’m calling from [YOUR TOWN/CITY]. As majority leader in the State House, Representative Bradford has the authority to call up Hb 501 for a vote. This legislation is incredibly important for our environment, our economy, and our electric grid. I urge you to pass this bill immediately and show your support for updating our clean energy standards. Thank you."

STEP TWO: Send an email to your State Representative using the form on this page.

STEP THREE: Check the box confirming you did both! Great work!
